Every week Bay Area Selected Events picks the events around the San Francisco Bay Area that are worth leaving the house for: festivals, night markets, free museum days, seasonal light shows and the occasional delightful surprise, across San Francisco, the South Bay, the Peninsula, the East Bay and the North Bay.
How We Pick
We look through hundreds of events every week, from organizers' own websites, museums, city calendars and public event listings.
Each event is checked against a written editorial standard, built from a year of hand-picked weekly roundups: would someone living in the Bay Area plan their weekend around it, and want to tell a friend? AI tools help us read the listings and sort them; the standard decides what makes the cut.
Each week we aim to cover every part of the Bay, and we make sure to include the biggest events of the week.
What You Will Find
- Spotlight: the big events of the week.
- Picks by area or by day, for this week and next week.
- Running all season: light shows, ice rinks and other things that are open for weeks.
- Collections: everything on one theme, such as Diwali or holiday markets, kept up to date.
About the Descriptions
Event titles and short descriptions are written in our own words with the help of AI, based on the facts the organizers publish. Details can change, so always check the official event page, linked on every event, before you go.
About the Illustrations
The grape mascot and every event picture on the site are original illustrations made for Bay Area Selected Events. They show the kind of event, not the event itself: they are not photos, are not provided by organizers, and may not match what an event actually looks like.
Where It Started
Bay Area Selected Events started on Xiaohongshu (RedNote) as 香槟小葡萄.
